The dimension scene dialog behavior changed in NX 10.0.2 so that you don't get the intermediate widget with the wrench icon. My guess is that your new computer is not running 10.0.2 but an earlier maintenace relase of NX 10.

Override position should be used in cases where the position of a component shuld be different once it becomes part of a higher level assembly. I think in your case you have two other options:
Hope this helps,

Hello
NX didn't create coordinate datum planes to the new part ?
I found this which is the correct TYPE-choise ?
When you open your default template part, is there also no CSYS in there.
Because the new part is a copy of the default template parts.
When using an Assembly default template there is no CSYS in there.
If you use the model default template there is a CSYS in there.
Hello
View Break's waves are very long. How to make them shorter manually ?
Do the "waves" follow borders=Boundary Lines ?
Why break lines are so difficult to modify in NX ?
Hello,
I'm a fairly new user to NX 10, but have around 6 years of experience of other CAD programs.
I'm a user coming from Inventor, and I am missing a very convenient command! Drives me crazy.
When I enter sketching mode, and the plane on which you are skething is partly, or completely hidden by another feature/body etc I want to quickly make the sketching plane as a section view.
The thing I want to do is described here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2014/ENU/Inventor/files/GUID-8E744EF6-A338-43CA-9813-53791E86F401-htm.html
Is there a way to do this, or do I have to create an individual section view the "ordinary way" for every time I want to do this? In inventor you simply press F7 once in sketching mode.
The other Extension 2 is stuck at the boundary line.
I tried to create new View Breaks and the same thing happens.
Extension 2 is locked and Extension 1 is free to move.
Hi
Use 'Clip Section' command from View tab as shown. In the dialog 'View Section', you can select/specify the desired plane.
Hello
Thanks for your quick reply.
This partly answers my question, but this to me is more like creating or changing a "traditional" section view.
I see now that I can keep a single plane and play around with it as a "sketching section view plane" which I am constantly editing to get the section view in my sketch plane for every sketch.
Is there any command or similar to automatically slice the graphics to my sketch plane without using the traditional section views?
Another method, instead of slicing would be to de-emphasis geometry not lying on the plane.
You can do this with the command toggle, Work Plane Emphasis.
Probably not switched on in any OOTB menu but you can get to it via Command Finder then add it to a ribbon bar.
We are preparing to transition to NX11 from NX8.5. I am working in native...
I have read thru the posts on the new way for interpart expressions but have a different issue with them.
When I open my NX8.5 part in NX11 it creates the "*_0" interparts for me but I get an error message:
But they did match in NX8.5, they were both constant in the child and parent (source) part files:
Now it is making my "*_0" new expressions as Length and I can't edit them to make them Constant:
Is there a setting I can change or a way to edit these to be Constant that I am not seeing?
I don't want to change the original exp's to Length
thanks
"Thanks for the help. The second bullet for option 1 seems to be my solution. Do you know of a drawback to this setting being on?"
The drawback is: it will create a wave link. Wave links can be difficult to manage, especially when using native NX (no teamcenter).
If you don't need it to be associative, why don't you use the first bullet point and ignore the 2nd?
Broken wave links hang around in the file and are a major source of headaches later.
Hello all,
I need to chenge the rotation angle of a section view into drafting mode, but I can't find the angle node group (see picture attached).
Can anyone help me with that?
Thanks,
Humberto
Hello, Is there a way to create a light weight non-linked copy of external surfaces of an assembly or part? I want to be able to create an external representation of an assembly, but don't want to have all the internal features/parts. I want to be able to share an assembly I'm working on to others in our group, but it to be small in file size. Thanks
