Re: Promote body

Off the top of my head, but a simplified example: If designer A creates a part, 'thingy', based off a wave link of 'widget'.  Later, Designer B modifies 'widget", not knowing it is used by 'thingy'....

Re: NX and duplicate file names

You should not have 2 (or more) different parts that use the same base file name, this will eventually cause problems.

Re: Promote body

Your example is the perfect illustration of what is wrong with breaking WAVE links. Is designer modifies the part 'widget' then 'thingy' is ACTUALLY needs to be modified to reflect the fact it is based...

That depends if the two parts with the same name contain the same data! For example if MainComponent.prt in SmallMachine is different to MainComponent.prt in BiggerMachine you're screwed. And if they are...

Re: NX and duplicate file names

I agree with others:- having 2 different files with the same name but different data is NOT "best practice"- having mutiple copies of the same file in different places is also not "best practice" Both...

Re: 2D Shell analysis question

If I see it correctly the meshes are not connected at the edges of the sheets. You can use stitch to connect them. - Jelle

Re: 2D Shell analysis question

Everything seems to be stitched, there are no duplicate nodes. Anyway I tried to stich once again and recalculate. Nothing changed.

Re: Promote body

Basically, working under TC, revising initial part should mean creating new Item Revision and using certain revision rule when loading derived parts. Pitfalls are sometimes consequences of the poor...

Agreed, if you're using TC, and have the time, and budget to fully implement it with all the right rules, that would be the way to go. Running native, I've found it easier to break the links, than to...
