What is the most rapid and precise method to create a cylinder or curved surface taking points from a stl file? I mean the stl file is a scanned part that contains holes and i would like to create cilinders or surfaces matching those holes by selecting the points of the facet "surface". I can do that by creating arcs and projet them to planes and then extrude but maybe is a quicker/better method.
Hi
When an NX environment has been selected from within the Teamcenter User Settings and when NX is launched from Teamcenter, the preference "TC_NX_Location_for_<ENV>" sets the path to your local NX install and if set, the preference "TC_NX_OEM_DEFINITION_DIR" defines the path to that environment's ugii_env file.
When starting NX from the NX Launcher (not from within Teamcenter) the paths to the local NX installs are read via OEM_Environment_def.xml (you set the path to the UGII_BASE_DIR). The path to this file is defined using the NX variable "UGII_OEM_DEFINITION_DIRECTORY" in NXLauncher.bat Similarly to above, you can optionally set an environment file for the selected "NX Environment" using the Teamcenter preference "TC_NX_OEM_DEFINITION_DIR".
Your TCCS, 2-Tier and 4-Tier variable values are all defined in TCConnectionOptions.xml, pointed to using the NX variable: UGII_TC_CONNECTION_OPTIONS_DIRECTORY set in the NXLauncher.bat.
When not launching from Teamcenter, your start icon would point to NXLauncher.bat. Assuming that your custom bat file only sets NX environment variables, you can define these in each environment's ugii_env.dat file.
Hope that helps,
Regards, Ben
Hi
Can you please upload an image?
Did you check using 'Rapid Surfacing' or 'Polygon Modeling' ?
Hi
I believe fit surface is very fast if it meets your needs.
Hi
Would you mind me asking why you are still using IDF and not IDX? What ECAD application are you exporting for?
Many thanks,
Dave

Hi
Turn off the "Autospace Stacked Symbols" in Drafting Preferences and it should work for you.

Amit
Thanks. "Fit surface" is almost what I was looking for; it creates geometry shapes from the stl mesh but I cant control it by picking the points or zones myself, "fit surface" select the zones itself in fonction of the color based on curvature, the work can be done by tweaking radii threshold but not working well every time and I need to change parameters lots of times till it does then change it again to recognize a diferent area. I would like to pick the areas or points myself like it can be done in spaceclaim (min 1).

I think NX has the power to do because it does with the color selection just need a different method of imput. Can I select a manual method of impuct for "Fit Surface" or other command?
When I used that approach previously, it filtered out everything except the last entered material name, Assigned_Material_10.
Hi
Although not exactly the same but we have something similar in NX
wrote: Hello NX Users,
I have noticed a difference, when I trim a surface the original surface can not be used for other operations any more unless I make a copy of it.
Hi
I don't think so! Can you send us an image and explain more about your part?
Well that'll teach me not to test first...
Now that I've created the materials... I don't see how this can be accomplished. I did find an existing ER 8807361 - which asks for the ability to search using OR in addition to the default, which appears to use AND.

I installed a new license file a few weeks ago. Today (1st of march) some of the programs won't run.
I checked the license file (that I installed a few weeks ago) and it shows everything expiring 30-sep-2019 However, if I query a feature from lmtools, I get two messages one saying it expires 28-feb-2019 and one saying 30-sep-2019. I get this for any feature.
The Composite ID is the same as always. I did upgrade a few weeks ago to support NX 13 (or whatever it is called)
Any idea what is going on?
