How to get multiple Part List rows for the same part with different values applied at component leve

Customer ordered to convert existing 1up tooling to 2up tooling. I’ve to use 1up tooling components as much as I can.

In the drawing Parts List, reusing old components and same but new components should appear in two different lines with their balloons indicating which is old [Size column ==> “Do Not Order (use old)”] and which is new.

I’m trying to find a way to do this through Attributes applied to component level; without making unique filenames for the same new components.

My attempt is by having different values in the attributes at component level (e.g. = Size1; Size2;….) to make them appear in Part List’s different rows! Is it a possibility?

Hi ,

I'll suggest the easiest option first... what about renaming the Component Name via the Component Properties?  Your Parts List column will have to point to the $COMPONENT_NAME attribute for these to show:

The numeric keypad is launched by NX. The ABCD keyboard is windows standard keyboard.

Please note that it is the 'touch keyboard' you want.

There can be two things you can try (on Windows 10):

1. The touch keyboard does not show up because you are not in 'tablet mode', turning on tablet mode will address that (turn it on by pressing the setting tile in the notification area at the bottom right of your screen)

2. There is an option to show the 'touch keyboard' when not in tablet mode. Turn that on. Search for the 'touch keyboard' in 'search windows' (bottom left of the screen).

Hope this helps and you enjoy touch mode in NX.

I just installed NX11 on a Windows 10 VM.  I now see the icons in you screenshots and the keyboard functions properly for me.  I wonder if your keyboard got docked somewhere in your windows session?

From Windows select "Start > Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard" and toggle on the On-Screen Keyboard (this is an extended keyboard).  Close the Settings window and return to NX.  Open the File New dialog, select the text entry field which should invoke the numpad.  Select ABCD and make sure the extended keyboard works.  Now Exit the keyboard, select the text entry field, select ABCD on the numpad and see if the basic keyboard is restored.

 Thanks.

I tried this method but it doesn't work as you discribed. I will kep trying again.

Since bulk edit is not possible, it's not an easy method.

Hello, I'm working in an assembly and noticed that I have an "inconsistently constrained symbol" next to a component in the Contraint Navigator.  However, when I expand out the constraints for that component, none of the constraints show as "inconsistently constrained".  I went to the assembly navigator and expanded out the constraints and didn't find any problems there, either.  Why would this type of behavior be occurring?  Seems like dealing with constraints often requires a good amount of detective work.  Might be good for people that like puzzles...  Smiley Surprised)    Thanks

Could you achieve what you are showing by pointing a column (any column?) to $COMPONENT_NAME?

Is there a way to setup a face on my subtraction tool with a manufacturing note by color and have it transfer to the tool when I subtract it out, then I can selet with PMI and add the note to an attribute?

Yes, that should be possible.  Note that you might have to make the $COMPONENT_NAME column a "Key Field" in the column's settings.

Re: Rendering using all workstation in the lan

Hi ,

Yes.  With NX Iray Ray Traced Studio Remote Render you can connect to a remote workstation or cluster of workstations as well as to a high-end Visual Computing Appliance (VCA).

The remote workstation needs to be configured to support Iray rendering and it will need to have NVIDIA Iray Server installed and running on it in order to access it from your "client" workstation or laptop running NX with Ray Traced Studio.

The controls for Ray Traced Studio Remote Rendering can be found in the Ray Traced Studio Editor -

The issue with parts list is not the list itself. The issue is with the automated ballooning function. Within the ballooning function you will not be able to select a view that contains drafting components. However, it will work on a view you add where the selected component is the drawing itself, it works just fine.

For explosions, if you are using arrangements to define explosions, then there are no issues. If you use the explicit exploded view command then my previous comments apply.

Reuse Library | Clone instead of reference

Hey gys,

little confusing situation. there is an reuse library created and the part should be placed in the assembly as "Clone" but evrytime i drag and drop it to a new file or asm it is set to reference.

123.jpg

So if i reset the Dialog it jumps back on "Reference". I did not find any Customer Default for it, in NX9, NX11, NX10. Also the Reuse Library Setting in NX10 for the Part Copy does not effect this.

I dont find anything in the help nor the internet.

I thought about to use the attribute pts_clone = not working

i thought about some things to write in the krx = nothing found

does some one got ideas or the solution?

Thank you  i can see it now.

But it seems your files are in NX11 and here i am using NX9.

Use an associative measure body to create a point at the CG of the body then use measure point to get expressions for the X,Y,Z coordinates of the CG. In the expression system, you can create expressions to get the r and theta values (you already have the z value).

r = sqrt(x^2 + y^2)

theta = atangent2(x,y)

Use the measure point expression names for the X and Y coordinates in place of x and y above.

The above will work in NX 9, but I'm not sure if lower versions have the "measure point" function.

Just to mention that, 'Measure Point' command was introduced in NX 9.

 thanks for your reply.

Expression and formulae you mentioned will give me cylinderical coordinates of Point created at CG and not the radial CG value.

For Example :

If we consider and cylinder with radius 10 and z-axis as cylinder axis, CG values in X-and Y direction from cartesian CSYS will be equal to zero and hence r and theta value calculated from these X and Y values will also be zero.

But on the other hand if i calculate CG in cyclinderical CSYS from basics formulae R = integration (m.dr)/total mass and setiing limits of integration from 0 to 10 , i will get a positive value.

Hope you got what i am looking for.

I also get the same error.  Looks like the link is directing for NX 11.  We're stuck on NX 10.
