Translation did not complete for NX11

$

Hello guys,

I am not able to import ".stp" or ".dwg" files. (Any kind of translate).

The translator comes up then an error message "Translation did not complete".

I kept all the default options but still am not able to import.

Someone had the same problem?

I tried the JAVA fix, related in this post https://community.plm.automation.siemens.com/t5/NX-Design-Forum/quot-STP-quot-inport-error/td-p/320877

But it didn't worked.

Also tried GTAC suport but they didn't fixed it too.
GTAC said that can be Windows 10 environment.
I tried to disable Firewall, Windows Defender and give all permissions, but it didn't worked aswell.

I have NX 11.0.2.7 MP5, 26Dec17 installed in Windows 10 Pro.

Attached is the log file.

Any kind of help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Marcus.

"Very often a sketch is mainly composed of reference objects."

Not true for everyone; in fact, you may be in the minority on this point.

Hi    You are right! Let me correct it: "Very often for myself, a sketch is mainly composed of reference objects."

When a file is translated, NX will create a log file for that specific translation job; for instance, if you import 12345.STP, a log file named 12345.LOG will be created in the same directory. Did the translation get far enough to create any of these log files?

You may want to check your Video Card Driver.  There has been some discussion about this issue.  I know it was having an impact on stp files.  Just a thought.  Thanks  There has been discussion on this board about stp files creation and graphics card driver.

Well it's a possibility.

In my department we have 3 computers.

PC 1) With GeForce GT 630, Drive 390.65 - Win7-64bit - WITH Translation error.

PC 2) With Quadro P2000, Drive 390.65 - Win10-64bit - WITH Translation error.

PC 3) With Quadro 600, Drive 377.83 - Win7-64bit - WITHOUT Translation error.

I will try to downgrade to drive 377.83 in one of this computers and check if the error continues or not.

After I tell the results.

Thanks.

,

When finished with your sketch curves, set your preselection filter to curves, Ctrl+A to select all curves, MB3 -> Convert To/From Reference. That's about as efficient as I can think to accomplish what you're wanting but someone else may have a better method.

Q1 - Snap Point apparently isn't working as it should for intersection, if I'm reading 's response correctly.

Q2 - It means that it worked as it should have and the point resides on the first curve selected, as I stated above.

In the last example with the 2 Alerts (note, this is NOT a failure just a warning or information) I assume the gap is larger than the gap tolerance yet the point is still created on the first curve selected however it cannot be Associative - get the gap smaller if you want a different result.

, please correct me if I'm mistaken.

A Windows 10 update introduced this problem by making changes to graphics driver settings. Some users have found that uninstalling/reinstalling their current driver fixed the issue. Others have upgraded to the latest nVidia driver, while others had to revert back to older drivers. The only workaround I'm aware of for importing, until you're able to find a driver that works for you, is to disable the driver. If you need to export, use "File > Save As" and change the "Files of type".

Guys,

First thanks for all your support.

The problem was solved for both computers.

PC 1) With GeForce GT 630, Drive 390.65 - Win7-64bit - WITH Translation error.

Now is working with drive 359.06 and the Translation (Import) works normaly for .stp and .dwg files.

PC 2) With Quadro P2000, Drive 390.65 - Win10-64bit - WITH Translation error.

Now is working with drive 377.83 and the Translation (Import) works normaly for .stp and .dwg files.

To summarize, there is an incompatibility between NX 11 and newer Nvidia drives.

I think it's something that Siemens should work on to solve this problem.

Otherwise we can lose resources using an old drive.

Once again, thanks for the help.

Marcus.

This issue has come up a couple times, would it make sense on making this a sticky, or pin this topic to the  top of the forum list until it get resolved?  Just a thought?

Thanks

Zone markings after upgrading to NX 11 in custom template

We just upgraded from 9 to 11. When I insert a new sheet (with custom template), it now puts large letters/numbers around the border. I notice in the drafting settings there is now a section for "zone markings." I'm not sure if that's what these are. I've tried disabling them in the active file, and in the template, but they keep appearing with every new sheet.

I've attached a picture showing them.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

Hello,

Well one thing I need to say,

I have worked with SolidWorks and SolidEdge.

Both are great softwares.

But I'm working since 2010 with NX, and this is simply the best software.

In the begining you will twist face, but after you will thank your boss.

Enjoy,

Marcus.

The story goes that once the decision was made to take major parts of Ideas and re-implement them as part of UG, that it would be best if we came-up with a new name for the proposed final product and one that did not make any reference to either of the two existing systems, despite that fact that it was being built on the Unigraphics architecture.  So the first thought was to hold a "Name the New Product" contest, however this only lasted for about five minutes.  As the story goes, while a high-ranking executive of the company was explaining why the name change was necessary and maybe even why we needed the contest, he made the statement that after all, what they were trying to do was produce the "Next generation CAD system".  No sooner had the word "Next" come out of his mouth that he and the others in the room immediately latched onto the name "NX".  Not sure if he was ever declared the 'winner' of the contest since in reality it had never been officially announced.  Anyway, that's the way it was explained to me and besides, it makes for a great story.

Re: NX Drafting inches to mm

Hi ,

What are the circumstances that led up to this change in unit?

Was the 2D drawing file created using a different unit that the 3D model?  Were both files created using inches but you now need to dimension in millimeter?  The reason I ask is that it might be easier to convert the units of the parts using ug_convert_part than continually changing the units of the dimensions.

That said, for existing dimensions you can right click any dimension, choose Settings and under "Text > Units" you can change the Unit.  Multiple dimensions can be selected to complete this in a single operation.  Going forward, you can select "Preferences > Drafting" and then "Dimension > Text > Units" and change the Unit to Millimeters.  New dimensions will be created in mm.

Regards, Ben

The letters and numbers are the zone labels. Try turning off the "create labels" option (found in the "zones" section of the borders and zones dialog box).

Thank you, but I had already turned off everything under the "borders and zones" drafting preferences and they still appear.
