See my edited post above.
You should have started with the template from the beginning, it seems. You could try to do a File -> New, select your template then either use import part and import your model into the template or export from the model file into the template. Make sure you delete any imported drawing sheets or not select them if doing export part if that matters to you.
Re: Cant find my newly created template when switching to drafting mode in NX12
Re: Adding draft question
Re: Cant find my newly created template when switching to drafting mode in NX12
Running NX native? (no Teamcenter)
Did you edit the ugs_sheet_templates.pax file, to include your new template(s)?
With drawing and model in the same file, to create teh drawing you go application drafting, and you should get prompted to create a sheet. By selecting "Use Template", you will get the options from the above pax file.
Does this help?
Re: Cant find my newly created template when switching to drafting mode in NX12
Hi
yes NX is native
When creating the templates I went through the excersise of creating the .pax file for each which is why i guess its shown in the file-> new. but i havent modified the ugs_sheet_templates.pax, should i modify this in notepad manually?
Thanks in advance!
Ben
Re: Cant find my newly created template when switching to drafting mode in NX12
Yes, you only need one .pax, for any number of drawing formats.
Each format will have a section like this:
<PaletteEntry id="d1"><References/><Presentation name="A - Size" description="NX Example Sheet"><PreviewImage type="UGPart" location="drawing_template.jpg"/></Presentation><ObjectData class="SheetTemplate"><TemplateFileType>none</TemplateFileType><Filename>Drawing-A-Size2D-template.prt</Filename><Units>English</Units></ObjectData></PaletteEntry>
Change the filename, and the image name, if you have them. We use Teamcenter, so I don't have good examples of how ours are.
Re: Product Template Studio in NX launched via Teamcenter
Hi
Your understanding is correct.

Re: Cant find my newly created template when switching to drafting mode in NX12
For native mode, there are 2 files for drafting.
Note this is for NX10, I think they may have changed (location,if nothing else) for NX12
(in NX 10 they are in %UGII_BASE_DIR%\UGII\templates)
1) ugs_drawing_templates.pax - this is for creating new drawing FILES (i.e. file -> New)
IIRC the setting "<UsesMasterModel>Yes</UsesMasterModel>" forces you to select the component for the drawing
You'll have to check the docs or ? to see exact behavior for this setting
2) ugs_sheet_templates.pax - this is for creating new drafting sheets in an existing part. Could be for non-master model drawing (i.e. drawing in the model part file) or adding more sheets to an existing master model drawing.

Thanks Ken,
Okay so yes they are missing from the ugs_sheet_templates.pax
Thanks allot guys.
Re: NX and Simcenter 3D on the Linux operating systems
That's unfortunate, we were just starting to evaluate Linux as a replacement for CAE...
With the new AMD Threadripper & EPYC processors, the performance and scalabitliy gap between Linux & Windows 10 (or Server) was so staggering that it made us consider Linux very seriously...
Even though NX Nastran is available on Linux, the NX Nastran Desktop users won't have an alternative after NX 12
Re: Cant find my newly created template when switching to drafting mode in NX12
Sorry for the runaround earlier - wasn't aware there were Sheet Templates - had only seen templates used for File -> New before.
Re: extrude from face edge fail
Does anyone know if there is a customer default to have "Treat Degree 1 Spline as Polyline" unchecked as a default? Otherwise it turns back on every time you open up NX.
Thanks in advance!

Hi there, I came across this problem a while ago!
The issue lies within a new functionality of NX12.
If you go into preference / modeling you will come across an option to specify what to do with 1deg spline.
You should look into that see if it solve this issue but i'm pretty sure it will!
Have a good day!
Re: How to create csys by using Excel data
I would likely approach this by first creating an Offset CSYS, which will create six expressions (X,Y,Z positions and X,Y,Z axial rotations.) Then, I would read in the values from Excel into these expressions.
ug_cell_read() is the best call for an individual cell.
ug_read_list() or even ug_read_fixed_list() might also be an efficient way to streamline things (by consolidating the interaction with Excel to one round-trip, rather than six.)
Does that help?

Project curve did it !
I made a sketch then I made a 2nd sketch and there I used Project curve to project the 1st sketch.
Working.
Re: How to rotate the drawing sheet while working on the tables
@Video
ha ha ha i thought of same but for me rotation of monitor is not possible so i mirror the screen with 90deg rotation as of now...
thanks,

Re: Creating Multiple Parts from Multiple Bodies
hi instead of 'create new part' you can use File->Export->Part
this is faster way but still you have to select the bodies individually
How to color different faces ? ( Making a sign )
Hello
How to color different faces ?
I'm making a sign and needing: blue, orange, yellow, white and black.
Re: How to color different faces ? ( Making a sign )
Hi
Set selection filter to 'Face'. Select required face(s) > RMB > Edit Object Display (or Ctrl+J) then select the required colour and OK.
Re: Blank Nesting
Hello
Can you provide a little more detail so we can help in the best way possible?
Is you design in sheet metal or a different application?
Are you looking for a visual indicator (curve) or some finite limit?
thanks
