Re: Equivalent to SE "Part Copy" in NX?

Wave Geometry Linker command allows you to copy an existing part into a new part file and you can modify it, like e.g. if you created any casting body and then you want to add machine operation feature new file with associate copy of casting body that time you can use Wave Geometry linker command.

and if you want to create a series of part and were mostly the same except for some minor feature differences that time you can use Part family (using spread sheet) where u can add /remove feature for different instances like YES or NO type.

I thing the closest way is use "move" command with copy option and than use "make unique" which saves the copied part as a new one. But I am not sure about connections with other parts, they could be broken.

Please note that even without the WAVE interface linker you can use product interfaces.

The owner of the part that defines the product interfaces determines how these can be used. As the owner of the part you can defined the product interfaces in such a way that linking is restricted to product interfaces.

The interfaces are also displayed in a list in the WAVE geometry linker.

This discussion has been going on for several days now... Just a question: couldn't you just have pressed all the buttons by now? :-)

Looks like what you have is the SNAP sample program, which is also shipped with NX -- it's located in C:\Program Files\Siemens\NX xx.x\UGOPEN\SNAP\Examples\More Examples\Gear.

It doesn't require a Block Styler license (because it uses SNAP BlockForm dialogs, not Block Styler dialogs), but it does require a SNAP license.

"Radius of chamfer" doesn't make much sense to me. Each of those 12 curves around the side of the nut is a hyperbola, not a circle (because it's formed by intersecting a cone and a vertical plane). So, drafting traditions notwithstanding, those curves don't have a "radius". Well, not a constant radius, anyway.

Parts list not showing any components

Hi,

I want to create a parts list/bill of materials, but when i got to place a Parts List on a drawing, it doesnt list any components. The screenshot below is just an example: I have imported a model with 344 components, some of which you can see in the assembly navigator. However, they are grouped as a single part in the Parts List.

Capture.JPG

The same error appears with other drawings, except usually it shows no parts at all.

Capture1.JPG

Something that may be significant is that all the models I have are converted from STP or IGES files. However, as they are now .prt files I wouldn't think that this would be the reason.

Can anyone help? I realise that more information may be needed; please let me know and I will tell you what I can.

Thanks,

Alex

Made a new section in assembly why not visible in drafting ?

Hello

I made a new section in assembly. Why sections are not visible in drafting ?

  • Creating a base view and no "section" model views available ?
  • It shows up in assembly as a section though ?

What are these assembly sections ?

If they do not show up in drafting ?

High Quality Image Error NX 11

Hello Everyone,

There seems to be a change in High Quality Image exporting in NX 11. A command I had no problem with in NX10 doesn't work in NX11.

It says " This command is available when the NX_RTS_IRAY environment variable is set to 0, which turns off the new Iray+ renderer."

Anybody know what that means?

How to make proper measurements with "Simple Measurement" ?

Hello

How to make proper measurements with "Analyse -> Simple Measurement" ?

  • When I try to create a straight "drafting"-style measurement like in picture "BLUE".
  • It will always create misaligned measurement like in picture "RED".

You need to use Projected Distance in Measure Distance

Select the vector which is parallel to the edges.

Considering there is no NX Open API code available. One workaround will be, Use the 'Bend Report' command, it will show the data in information window. Copy the data, insert table in drawing sheet. Now edit the table by option 'Edit Using Spreadhseet'. Paste the data copied data in excel and peform some formatting steps. You will have the result as shown in the following image.

But it will not be associative, If you make any changes in the model. You need to do the all steps everytime.

Other workaround will be to use associative measurements and expressions. I have explained the steps in the attached document. The process is somewhat lengthy but it will give you associative results.

Weird...did you try dialog options??

Yes. That gear symbol worked.
-> So the "Gear"= dialog options. New to me.

With the new Ray Traced Studio rendering the static image generation is now part of that workflow.

Static Image GenerationStatic Image Generation

Try this out with NX 11. There videos posted in the Knowledge Base to show how the new rendering works and what the advantages of this are over the old methods.

I'm sure it'soperator error again, and since this is an update, I'm sure I put it in the wrong place, or something, but this is what I get.

Also you can use, File > Preferences > User Intrface (Ctrl + 2). Select 'Options' and click on arrow icon of 'Reset Dialog Memory'. It will reset the all command window to its default dialog options.
